WHERE CAN WE GO? – STATE BORDER RESTRICTIONS UPDATE

Here is a  guide to the most recent state border restrictions update on where we can go that will help you pick your next Australian holiday destination.

AT A GLANCE

  • Queensland: From December 1, QLD borders will reopen to residents of VIC and Greater SYD.
  • New South Wales: NSW is open to all started and territories.
  • Victoria: Open to all with restrictions in place.
  • South Australia: Borders open for people travelling from other states and territories other than VIC.
  • Northern Territory: Open to all except Melbourne.
  • Western Australia: Open to residents of TAS, QLD, ACT and NT.
  • Tasmania: Borders now open to NSW, QLD, WA, NT and ACT as well as New Zealand.
  • Victoria: Borders open to travellers from all states and territories, people travelling from SA will need to obtain a border crossing permit.
  • Australian Capital Territory: Borders open to all states and territories.

QUEENSLAND

  • From December 1, QLD borders will reopen to residents of VIC and Greater SYD.
  • Adelaide still remains a hotspot and new arrivals will have to quarantine upon arrival.
  • The State Government is due to review Adelaide’s hotspot listing at the end of the month.
  • People who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot or overseas within the previous 2 weeks will be required to complete a border declaration pass to enter Queensland.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

  • Travel into South Australia is unrestricted for people travelling from other Australian states and territories other than Victoria.
  • As of December 1, travellers from Victoria will no longer be required to undertake 14 days of quarantine.
  • Anyone planning a trip to South Australia must complete a Cross Border Travel Registration.

TASMANIA

Wild Tasmania | Hiking and Cultural Tour | Wilderness Travel

  • Tasmania’s borders are now open to resident of New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and ACT as well as New Zealand.
  • From November 16, Travellers arriving from South Australia should quarantine at either their residence or accommodation upon arrival until further notice.
  • From November 27, Tasmania will reopen its border to residents or Victoria.
  • Travellers will need to fill out their information on the Good to Go App in terms of where they have been in the past 14 days.
  • Travellers heading for Tasmania should register their travel and contact details via the Tas e-Travel system.

VICTORIA

Victoria: Places to visit and things to do - Tourism Australia

  • Victoria’s borders are open to travellers from all states and territories, but those travelling from South Australia will need to obtain a border crossing permit.
  • A Trans-Tasman travel bubble is currently in place between New Zealand and parts of Australia. Travellers from New Zealand arriving into New South Wales and the Northern Territory without having to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

From Perth: A 10-day trip of colourful attractions - Tourism Australia

  • Western Australia is open to residents of Tasmania, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory
  • Travellers visiting from New South Wales and Victoria are still required to quarantine for 14-days pending review.
  • Anyone who has been to South Australia in the past 14 days will only be allowed into Western Australia if they meet new exemption requirements.
  • Travellers who must self-quarantine for 14 days, and will be subject to a COVID-19 test within 48 hours of arrival and on day 11 of quarantine. They must wear a mask until arriving at quarantine premises.
  • All travellers will have to fill out a G2G pass registration and scan it on arrival.

NEW SOUTH WALES

  • New South Wales is now open to all, including Victoria.
  • No permit is required for travellers from other states. Travellers coming from South Australia will require a NSW entry travel declaration form.

  • Travellers from South Australia will need to complete an online declaration within 24 hours before entering the territory, presenting the declaration at the border.
